As all new mamas know carving out time for yourself without a baby attached to you is near to impossible. And for the first few months, you cherish this attachment (well most of the time...we're mamas, not saints). However once the #4thtrimester is complete a shift happens and you realise how an hour to yourself could go a really long way! At least this is how I felt.
During my #postnatal journey, I have found that freely flowing without co-sharing my yoga mat provided me the space I needed to connect back to me, and then return to #motherhood with a full cup. For me these baby-free flows happened during nap-time, as sorting child care to attend a yoga class was just always to "hard basket", and I know I am not the only mama with this predicament.
The Updog Yoga studio is all about making it easy for new mamas to practice yoga. If ever there was a time in our lives we needed to prioritise connecting to our breath, body and mind...its during those first two years of being a mama (can I get an amen?!).
With the goal of breaking down barriers for mamas to practice yoga at the forefront of our studio's mission...offering babysitting just seemed like a no brainer!
Without further ado, mamas of Brisbane please let me introduce you to our onsite babysitter: Philippa! Philippa is onsite every Monday and Friday morning during the Mamas Flow vinyasa classes, looking after the babies while the mamas flow freely.
I am lucky enough to call Philippa my friend. We met through yoga a few year's back and she has since become Finn’s babysitter while she studies full-time.
Philippa is currently studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) with special interest in female health, fertility, pregnancy and children. She has over 3 years of experience in babysitting, from infants to toddlers, and is passionate about providing a fun and safe environment for children to play and grow. Philippa is certified in First-Aid, CPR and has her Queensland Blue Card. She is a dedicated yogi and believes that it’s is never to early or late to enjoy the wonderful benefits of yoga in optimising health for your body and mind.
